Mission Statement
Created by students for students, STAART is determined to raise awareness, educate and advocate for the young lives that are affected by drug or alcohol use, depression and suicide.
Summary
STAART is a group that was formed by students for students. Their mission is to raise awareness, educate, and advocate for the young lives affected by growing issues such as drug or alcohol use, depression and suicide. STAART has made it their goal to address these topics, and provide fellow students with the knowledge of how to give and get help regarding these issues. With the pressures that students face in today’s society, it is vital that we spread the word and let others know the importance of these terrible epidemics plaguing our young lives today.
STAART would also like to let everyone know about the Overdose Protection Act, a law that provides protection to anyone that contacts 911 to get help for someone that is in need from either a drug or alcohol overdose.
Remember “Don’t run call 911”

Her number is 917-678-9280 and tell her you were referred by the STAART group. She would like to have this part of project completed by June 30th. (Dr Sarah Moore will come to your house or you can go to her at Capital health). Please help out with this if you can, this is much needed research!

Thanks to the help of Mercer County Prosecutor, Angelo J. Onofri.
May 2, 2016 (3rd year anniversary of the Overdose Prevention Act)
The group got 4400 Glow bracelets on Friday April 29th and spent Saturday afternoon sorting them into groups of 10, so that on Monday May 2nd they could be passed out to all Students and Staff in the 3 high schools in Hamilton. Each person received and wore the bracelets for the day and throughout the week to bring awareness to the Overdose Prevention Act.
The Overdose Prevention Act”, provides immunity to a person that calls 911 during an active overdose. It was signed into law on May 2, 2013. (Sometimes known as the Good Samaritan act)
The bracelets were donated by the Mercer County Prosecutor, Angelo J. Onofri.
STAART would like to thank the County Prosecutor, Mr. Onofri, and Mr. Marvin Johnson, Special Agent to the Prosecutor for helping us accomplish our first goal, one of many for the group.
